Summary: This is an analysis of the religions used in Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolf Anaya.
Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolf Anaya contains many views and perspectives on different religions. Throughout the novel there were three main religions; the golden carp, Catholic, and magic. Tony is faced with death, growing up, and choosing between these three religions These religions differ greatly, but each one offers Tony a unique and interesting view on the world.

The first of these three religions is Catholicism . Throughout the book Catholicism presents itself in many different forms. The strongest representation of Catholicism is Tony's mother. Her firm belief in God and the Holy Mother Church pulls him towards that religion. Tony's mother encouraged him from birth to become a priest. Tony wanted to fallow the wishes of his mother, but he did not fully understand the Catholic faith. When he took his first communion he expected to be filled with all the knowledge of the world.
