Essay | Necessary Losses

Life is full of happiness and pain. Everyone has their ups and downs and what's important is how people cope through these moments. My life has been a non-stop roller coaster, twisting, turning, and spinning me upside down until I'm sick in the stomach. Since the day I was born, my life has consisted of hurtful words and hugs of apology. From losing my father and raising myself, to hating my mother and leaving home, I have learned to cope with the necessary losses of my life.

I grew up as a happy little girl in a world full of chaos. My mother and father loved me dearly, but were continuously fighting over my father's drinking and saying hurtful things to each other. I never understood why they were constantly bickering, but how was I supposed to understand when I knew no different"...
