Lev Davidovich Bronstein was born on October 26, 1879 in Ukraine. When Lev was about nine years old, his family sent him to Odessa to go to school, since education was valued greatly in the family. Lev was a very good and logical student and he developed his proper manners at his school. In 1896, he went to Nicolayev to study mathematics. Lev found the South Russia Workers Union in 1897 and the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party the following year. Soon, Lev was arrested for his activities and was sent to Siberia. Lev took the name Leon Trotsky in 1902 when he escaped to London. There, he met Lenin and joined the staff of the Communist newspaper, Iskra (The Spark).

In 1903 at the Second Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party in London, there was an argument between Vladimir Lenin and Julius Martov. Lenin formed a group known as the Bolsheviks...
