The Enlightenment

Summary:   The main players of the enlightenment era includes most philosophers from the era and their achievements.


The Enlightenment was the great rebirth and recreation of world-view brought around by the scientific revolution. It glorified the art of reason and was an era of thought and accomplishment. There were many important people involved in the Age of Enlightenment and a few of these people will be discussed in this essay. Those people include: Immanuel Kant, John Locke, Adam Smith, Voltaire, Jean Jacques Rousseau, and the baron de Montesquieu. In addition, a most valuable player will be named along with the reasons and explanation why that person was chosen.

Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) was a professor in East Prussia and is proclaimed to be the greatest German philosopher of the age. He was very passionate about his beliefs. Kant thought that is serious thinkers and philosophers were given the freedom to proclaim their reason publicly, enlightenment.....
