Elie Wiesel was born on September 30, 1928 in the small town of Sighet, Romania. At the ripe young age of 15, his life was about to take a sharp turn. This small-town boy, whose life revolved around a religion he would eventually abandon, was deported to Auschwitz- a concentration camp infamous for its cruel and rather efficient tactics of liquidation. Shortly afterwards, after having survived the numerous suspenseful selections, he and his family were deported to Buchenwald- another concentration camp with death as the ever-familiar receptionist. Unfortunately, it is debated whether his mother and sister were executed at Auschwitz or Buchenwald. However, the fact remains that they did not survive. Elie and his Father vowed to remain together, despite all costs. They succeeded, until when freedom was just over the horizon, his father fell.....
