American Dream

The Leave it to Beaver and the Brady Bunch television shows represent the American Dream many years ago. Those styles of living are not as prominent today, as they were in the past. Numerous years have gone by and times have changed; so has the American Dream. As new generations are introduced to the world, the previous generations wish for them to have double that they had. Their wish list for the youth consists of equality, wealth, and love. In the literature, Black Boy by Richard Wright, A Raisin in the Sun by Corraine Hansberry, and Martin Luther King's I have a Dream speech, the older individuals desire more for adolescents of the present. The poem Dreams by Langston Hughes also offers various words of wisdom.
