Diabetes is a disease that anyone can get no matter what age a person is. It is a disease where the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is used to convert starches, sugar, and other food into energy that people need to live. Scientists and doctors still have not found a cure but many environmental factors lead to getting diabetes, such as lack of exercise and obesity. Genetics also play a big role.

There are two major types of diabetes, type one and type two. Type one diabetes is usually only diagnosed in children and young adults. Type one occurs from the body's failure to produce insulin.
