Since the attacks of September 11, the United States has done everything in its power to prepare the nation for future terrorist attacks. Indeed, the United States has accomplished a lot in protecting the American people. The danger isn't only terrorists hijacking airplanes, or bombing federal buildings. One of the most deadly weapons that terrorists may be planning to use against the US is Smallpox. This, the United States, is not prepared for. The reason the US is not prepared is not because of the lack of medicines, vaccines, or treatments, but because the American population is ignorant of the effects of Smallpox, or even what Smallpox is.

Smallpox is a disease caused by the Variola virus. The term "Smallpox", comes from the Latin word for "spotted." It was given the name because of the small bumps that the victims get on their face...
