Summary:   Discussion of women's role in history.


Women have always taken the backseat in society under men. The beginnings of the fight for their rights began as they rethought the sterotypes that were placed on them. Women have struggled for centuries to obain rights equal to those of men. They have formed various movements that saught to improve the lives of themselves and others. During the early part of the century, woman fought for suffrage, or the right to vote. Although women in many parts of the world have gained significant legal rights, many people believe that women still do not have complete political, economic, and social equality with men. (Schultheiss, pg 1)
