Summary: How the theme friend ship relates to the book, A Seperate Peace by John Knowles.
In most books the author creates a theme to the book. In The book A Separate Peace, many themes were used to get across the point of the story. Among these themes were: escape from reality, conformity vs. nonconformity, and mans inhumanity to man. Another theme was friendship, which is a very important subject.

Friendship dealt with many different scenes in A Separate Peace. One of these scenes was at the beginning of the book when Gene and Phineas became best friends. They together created a club called the Super Suicide Club of the Summer Session. This shows that they were willing to trust each other and keep themselves close together at all times. When they jumped from the tree and became best friends was only one case of friendship in the story.
