Chapter 1 pages 21-40: A long-expected party.
Gandalf the wizard came to Hobbiton in the Shire, for the 111 birthday of Bilbo Baggins.He met Bilbo's cousin Frodo. The party was great, there were a lot of people and a lot of food, and Gandalf brought the fireworks. Bilbo said his goodbye speech and disappeared when he put his ring on and left all his belongings to Frodo even the special ring.
Chapter 2 pages 41-63: The shadow of the past.
Gandalf went to search information on the ring.When Gandalf got back after some years he told to Frodo about the rings:
"Three rings for the Eleven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadow lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadow lie."
When Gandalf threw the ring in to the fire he saw that this is the One Ring (to rule them all...). He knew it is a dangerous and evil ring that wants to be found by her master (the Dark Lord) - long ago he lost his body when Isildur took from him the ring and his spirit got away to Mirkwood. Know he grew stronger after many hundred years' he is in Mordor and he is building an army- he sent the nine men who have a ring as black knights to find the Ring in the shire.
Chapter 3 pages 64-83: Three is company.
Gandalf went to do some business but he didn't return in time. Frodo was very worried but he needed to leave, so he Sam and Pipin started there way to Buckland. On there way they saw a black knight who tried to find them but the song of the elves saved them, because the black knight left. Together (with the elves) they continued and they were safe.
Chapter 4 pages 84-95: A short cut to mushrooms.
They left the elves and continued their way to bucklebury ferry, from the woods and the fields. On there they got to Margot's house. But Frodo didn't like Mr. Margot because he found him once taking mushrooms. This time Pipin was there and he was a friend of Mr. Margot so he gave them food, information and a ride to Bucklebury ferry, there they took Marry on there journey.
Chapter 5 pages 96-106: A conspiracy unmasked.
The 4 companion past the river and got to Buckland there they went to Brandy hall where Merry lives. There Merry, Pipin and Sam told Frodo that they know about the ring and about the journey. Frodo and the others decided to leave in the morning to the old forest.
Chapter 6 pages 107-120: The old forest.
Merry, Sam, Pipin and Frodo went into the forest. The forest was scary and it seemed that they were watched. They continued their way but the forest decided the way for them- it took them to the middle of the forest the most dangerous part. There they were drugged by the smell of the air. Tom Bombadil saved them from the trees and invited them to his house.
Chapter 7 pages 121-131:In the house of Tom Bombadil.
After Tom Bombadil saved them, they stayed in his house for some time. Sam, Pipin, Merry and Frodo had a great time there because the smell in the air and food made them happy all the time. They sang songs and talked about their journey.But even if they were happy they needed to continue their way. Tom gave them food for the journey and told them that if they are in trouble, sing his song and he will be there.
Chapter 8 pages 132-145: Fog on the Barrow-downs.
They continued their way to a very strange and dangerous place, it was called the Barrow-downs. It was a big hill that was covered with fog, once long time ago humans lived there but they destroyed them selves. They didn't saw anything so Frodo had lost the others. When he got back to search them he was captured by something unknown. He woke up and he found himself in a cave with his friends, he started to sing Tom Bombadil's song. Tom came to the cave and saved them then he took them to the river there he told them to go to Bree and to stay in the Prancing Pony Inn.
Chapter 9 pages 146-159: At the sign of the Prancing pony.
The four companions got to Bree and went to the Prancing pony inn.There they rent a nice hobbit size room and stayed for dinner.When they were in the dinning room, they started to talk about their journey even they didn't suppose to and accidentally Frodo put his ring on and disappeared. There he met the Strider that looked very scary.
Chapter 10 pages 160-171: Strider.
Frodo and the strider had a little talk because strider wanted to go with them.The inn manager gave Frodo a letter from Gandalf. There Gandalf told him about the Strider and about the way. Frodo understood why the strider wanted to go with them.Merry saw the black riders so they didn't sleep in their room instead they slept in the Strider room for this night.
Chapter 11 pages 172-191: A knife in the dark.
The night that they met the strider they slept in his room. In the morning they saw their room that was destroyed by the black riders. The riders had opened the stable door and the ponies had disappeared. Even if they had big problems they continued their way with the strider to rivendell. On their way they took an unpleasant shortcut from a place called Midgewater. They arrived to a big stone there they got some singes from Gandalf and they saw black shadows.
Chapter 12 pages 192-209: Flight to the ford.
They tried to go to sleep but the black riders attacked them. The black riders hurt Frodo with an evil sword so the 5 companion had to move fast to Rivendell. On their way Frodo as on the new pony and the rest were walking. They passed low places and high place, on their way they met an elf that took them to rivendell. Frodo was placed on the elf's white horse. The way was nice until the black riders arrived. The white horse started to escape to rivendell but the riders were behind him. They passed a river but when the riders arrived a big wave took the riders away.
Book 2, Chapter 1 pages 213-232: Many meetings.
Frodo waked up in Rivendell. He didn't remember how he got there but Gandalf told him what happened to him and about the situation. Frodo met his Uncle Bilbo and he gave him a magical sword and a magical shield. The story gets more complicated when we see that Aragorn the strider that is Isildur heir is in love with arowen the daughter of Elrond the elf.
