All Quiet On the Western Front

"All Quiet On the Western Front" is a book about the First World War. Erique Maria Remarque wrote the book, inspired by his own experiences as a First World War soldier. The story takes place somewhere along the vast Western Front in France. The book is narrated in first person from the eyes of a soldier.

Paul Bäumer enters the war as a soldier of 19 years of age. The companionship at the front is great, and Paul makes friends that last throughout time. Paul also contemplates over life while in the war. The reader follows Paul both on the physical and the social level as well as on the intellectual one throughout the book., and his perspective on life changes constantly - he is thrown between states of desolation and despair.....
