      The short story, A Red Badge of Courage, by Stephan Crane, is a compelling story of a young union soldier's trials and tribulations during the Civil War. Young Henry Flemming heads off to war looking to become a hero; he ends up, not only fighting the enemy, but fighting himself as well. The Red Badge of Courage is a story of a young soldier struggling to become a man during the Civil War.
