Satire~ "Driving under the influence good or bad?"

Summary:   It deals with Satire, No book.

Driving under the influence, good or bad"

Many people are trying to give driving under the influence of alcohol a bad reputation.  One can listen to these discrediting groups such as Congress, Senate, MADD (an anagram for mother's against drunk driving) or SADD ( an anagram for students against drunk driving).  To be honest with all of the support groups and the organizations out there that, at this time, the drinking and driving practitioners have not coalated to form their own group.  The drunk drivers could even come up with their own anangram to suit their organization.  They could call it DAMS- drivers against mad students.  There are alot of pros as contrasted to the very few cons.    Drinking and driving poses alot of questions of officials to answer.   Is drunk driving as bad as everyone claims it to be"

I think people are failing to see how beneficial drunk driving can be to the community.  The first benefit that comes to mind is that driving under the influence of alcohol forces every other driver on the road to pay attention to the task at hand.  If the drunk driver is swirving from lane to lane or driving erratically it forces all other drivers to pay closer attention.  Think about it, if you are driving and there is a driver on the road ahead of you who is swirving slightly, do you slow down and drive more cautiously? You probably answered yes. As a matter of fact, the spontaneous driving of the intoxicated individual forces his fellow drivers to be more attentive while driving.  If an accident should occur, why is it automatically the fault of the drunk driver?  Could it possibly be that the other commuter was not paying close attention to his surroundings?  Why does the police officer always point to the person who cant walk in a straight line? What does that prove anyway? I see no point in walking a straight line or breathing into a machine.  What happens when you are a person with bad balance?  Then you fail the walking test and you obviousely caused an accident? I see no connection between the two.

Also, the argument can be made that intoxication makes the drunken person a better driver.  In reality what driver gets behind the wheel of a vehicle and does not claim that he or she is perfectally fine?  Who are we to question their judgement?  And who really believes all of that scientific mumbo jumbo about alcohol slowing a persons reaction time, when if anything it slows one's action time?  By this I mean that alcohol doesn't slow the drivers reaction to driving anymore than it slows his action of driving.  Nevertheless, if you drive at a reduced speed you will have more time to react anyway, right? Then if drinking alcohol slows your driving time you have more time to react, causing alcohol to make operating a motor vehicle much safer.    We could use a few more drivers out there that drink and drive.  They cause drivers to pay more attention and it causes drivers to be more consious of their driving situation.

Furthermore, ask yourself if you have ever driven an automobile while inebriated.  Have you maybe taken a few of what you would call "sips" of wine at a party ad then driven home afterwards? You probably answered yes, that is of course if you are over the age of twenty-one, which also makes you guilty for driving under the influence.  And your probably saying to yourself that you made it home safely right?  Thus proving my final point.  How dangerouse can driving under the influence really be?  Many americans are guilty of drinking, no matter how much alcohol it was, and driving home.  Most people don't see drinking and driving home from a party a bad thing.  But when they hear about a drunk driving accident they say drinking and driving is bad.  If they are such advocates for not drinking and driving, then why do they do it? They should set the example.  After all, what would this world be if everyone was a hypocrite"

So honestly I say, go out, enjoy yourself have a few drinks and don't worry.  I mean when really thought through,  what's the worst that can happen? All right, there is the possibility that someone could die or something else along those lines but everyone has to go some time right?  Maybe the driver of the other car will be rushed to the hospital, but dont you believe in destiny?  Dosen't everything happen for a reason?  So please have fun, but don't take advantage of this priveledge. After all, this all comes around to the common action of a few people ruining it for the rest of us. So to all of you who do drive under the influence, thank you so much.  Thank you for keeping our roads a lot safer.  Encourage others to do it as well.  It dosen't hurt to have a lot of people in the world who are consiouse about other drivers.  So if you want to keep the roads safe, drink and drive! And keep up the good work!
