Summary:   List of characters from the classic mythological Heracles (Hercules) story. With brief explanations.


Character List

Heracles (initially mortal, later becomes immortal) - most famous of all Greek heroes, defender of the earth.

Zeus (god) - king of all Greek gods, father of Heracles.

Alcmene (mortal) - mother of Heracles, known for her immense beauty, wisdom, virtue, loyalty and compassion.

Hera (god) - wife of Zeus, goddess of marriage.

Teiresias - blind Theban prophet, gave advice to Alcmene.

King Eurystheus (mortal) - king of Tiryns, was promised 10 Labors in 12 years by Heracles.

Nemean Lion (mortal) - a beast living near Mycenae, with impenetrable skin.

Hydra Of Lerna (mortal) - 9-headed monster, with one immortal head and venomous blood. Every time one head was cut off, two would replace it.

Iolaüs (mortal) - nephew of Heracles, assisted him in slaying the Hydra of Lerna.
