Democritus

Summary:   The essay is about the life and times of Democritus. An ancient mathematician and philosopher who came up with Atomism.


Democritus was born in Abdera, Greece around the year 460 BCE. He was of noble blood, so his father had money to spend on the finer things of life. Democritus's father contributed large amounts of money to the armies of Xerxes. As a reward for his generosity, Democritus's father was rewarded with exotic gifts, and the best one being that of the Magis. The Magi's instructed Democritus in theology and astronomy. Democritus was very advanced after learning from the Magis because not to many people were trained by them.

When his father passed away, Democritus went on an academic journey searching for answers to explain life. He traveled to far off places that include Egypt, where he learned geometry from the high priests. Democritus travels also found him in Persia, India and to Babylonia to the.....
