Conformity is an area of psychology, which has continued to attract the attention of many psychologists simply for the depth of information that it provides about human and social interaction. Social psychology is primarily interested in explaining how behavior and thoughts are influenced by the presence of others and in order to study social conformity it has been found that a large amount of research relates primarily to the idea of conformity and how it arises in our lives.

The idea of conformity originates from the assumption of social influence between humans i.e. the idea that "an individual's attitudes, beliefs or behaviors are modified by the presence or actions of others."
