King Fahd Ibn Abdul Aziz was proclaimed the fifth king of Saudi Arabia on June 13, 1982. In 1985, King Fahd made his first state visit to Washington, D.C. as King. During the five-day visit, King Fahd showed the need for a restored, active American role in the Middle East peace process. Before and during King Fahd's reign, Saudi Arabia went through many changes. King Fahd calls America to save the peace process to settle with the other nations. Throughout his life, King Fahd has acknowledged Islam as the foundation of the Kingdom and as the guiding principle for all affairs of state.
