Summary:   This essay is about the life and times of John Wallis, and his contributions to the world of mathematics.


The Reverend John Wallis had become a minister in Ashford in 1602 (2). The Reverend Wallis married Joanna Chapman, who was his second wife, in 1612 (2). Young Wallis was born on November the 23ed, 1616 in J.F. Scott's book John Wallis the work of. Within Scott's book there is argument the Wallis was the eldest son of the family. However, in O'Connor and Robertson's biography of Wallis he was the third of their five children born to the Wallis family. When young John was only six years old, his father passed away (2).

Little John went to school in Ashford, but with the outbreak of the plague in the area, his mother decide that it would be safer for him to move away (2). In 1625, John accordingly moved to Ley Green in the parish.....
