Christianity has been present in Australian lives for many, many years starting with the first fleet's arrival in 1788 and continuing still today (eg- Christmas and Easter). Christianity's constant presence has inevitably resulted in the influence of many aspects of Australians' lives and in particular two closely linked aspects, public morality and social welfare. With the arrival of the first fleet and therefore many people from Britain, Christianity has played a major part in Australian history. The people in the newly developed society that had any power, influence or money or that arrived in Australia to oversee the numerous convicts belonged to The Church of England (Christian) and therefore conducted/built their society in such a way that mirrored Christian beliefs. This long-standing and established society changed the lives of many people in and after.....
