A Modest Proposal

Summary:   A satirical essay about Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal".


Any reasonable person would agree that the problem of immigration to the United States is a pressing one. All compassion for this unfortunate group of creatures aside, it must be recognized that they pose a grave threat to our nation. They bring disease, filth, and violence with them. Generally, they are a drain on society economically- through their use of welfare services and in the cost of enforcing the borders to stop illegal entry. As the jobs held by immigrants often hardly provide any wages at all, there is little recompense to the government for these services. Migrants often reside in abominable eyesores, which place a great strain on the senses of decent observers. More worrying, however, is the case of those who do succeed economically; more and more Americans are denied work or property,.....
