Andre Agassi Biography.
Andre Agassi
Even though Andre Agassi may not be one of the youngest professional players in tennis today, he is still one of the best. He has been playing for all his life, and ever since he was 4 he has been playing in tournaments. With all his experience, he must be one of the greatest tennis players. Here are some of the accomplishments that Agassi made throughout his life.
When he was 4 years old he hit with Jimmy Connors, and Jimmy quoted that "When this kid grows up and beats me, I will retire." When Agassi played him in both of their professional matches, he won both of them. When he was 6 years old, he signed his first autograph from playing with US Open Champ Ilie Nastase.
Two days after Agassi's 16th birthday, he turned pro. He began playing, and was doing very good. He was all the way up to number 11th in the world, when he had a big downfall. At this time, he went all the way down to number 90. He decided that he wanted to quit tennis, but his coach talked him out of it.
In 1988, Agassi went all the way up to number 3 in the world. He held that position for not very long before dropping down to number 7. He was the fastest person to surpass $1,000,000 in career prize money. In 1991 he did not have a great year, and he ended it with the number 10 spot in the world. In 1993 he had many surgeries, and gained 8 pounds. This got him dumped by his coach, (and also his girlfriend). He finished the year as number 24.
1996 was a bad year for him. He lost to number 281, and people jeered at him. 1999 he started regaining his love for tennis, and got back up to number one. He held it for about 3 weeks in July, and then he got it again in September. He held it for the rest of the year.
I think that even though Andre Agassi had some really bad times in his tennis career, he is still one of the best tennis players there is. He currently holds the number one spot in the world, and may be keeping it that way for awhile. Andre Agassi was a great tennis player, and it is all due to practice.
