The play A Raisin In The Sun is a play that was written in the 1950s. This play was really ahead of its time and was talking about very controversial topics for its time. Lorrain Hansberry was the author of this Broadway stunner and it was the first play to appear on Broadway that was written by a woman or a African American. In some of the earlier productions of this play the producers cut several very crucial scenes from the play, not to weaken or diminish it but because of time restraints. The some of the scenes that they decided to cut had a great deal of significance; like the scene where Beneatha unveils her natural hair. That scene showed her feminist side, which is a big part of her character. The removal of these scenes was a big mistake because of the strength that they gave to the play as a whole.

The scene where Beneatha reveals her natural hair is a very important scene because it displays her feminism and it shows her independence. Beneatha is a strong character that is very intelligent and has very big plans
