    Is it war that brings out the worst in men, or is it the worst of men that brings out war? Throughout America's history it has only but a few major wars on American soil.  Two of which are the Civil War, and the American.  Some historians argue that these two wars were very similar in many ways, but very different in others.  

    Both of these wars were based on one common goal, independence.  In the Civil War, the Confederacy (or South) was trying to gain their independence from the Union. The Confederates way of showing their independence was seceding from the union.  In the American Revolution, the colonists were trying to gain independence from England, their mother country.  What started the American Revolution was the drafting and signing of the Declaration of Independence.  In the Declaration of Independence...
