ABORTION SHOULD BE KEPT LEGAL

There are few more controversial subjects in this country than abortion. The right to a legal abortion is one of the few subjects on which nearly everyone has an opinion. Those who think abortion should be readily available are called "pro-choice", while those looking to restrict the rights of women are called "anti-choice". I am vehemently pro-choice, I believe abortions should be kept legal in all trimesters for any reason.

Though my view may seem a bit extreme, the legal right of women to get a safe abortion performed by a doctor is being slowly but surely eroded away. The right to abortion was guaranteed by the 1973 Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, but recent legislation has been passed to make it more difficult to obtain one, and efforts are being made to make it illegal altogether. Though the majority of Americans would...
