Julius Caesar

Julius Caesar was a bold, determined leader. He launched a program of public works to employ the jobless and gave land to the poor. He reorganized the government of the provinces and granted Roman citizenship to more people. On March 15, 44 B.C., this great man was assassinated. Were Caesar's great accomplishments the cause of jealousy and fear among people? Or was it his ambition that led to hatred of many? The most controversial event documented about Caesar's life was his death. Each representation of his death has different intentions. For example, the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare was written to entertain the audience. However, historical documents such as Caesar by Roger Bruns and Julius Caesar by Manuel Komroff seek to inform the reader of the historical aspects of the assassination. Therefore, details vary.....
