The River and Me

Summary:  

The following is a personal essay discussing my thoughts on the Hudson River.

Every time, I look out the window, I see the Hudson River. Its gray blue currents move down the city's coastline. Periodically, a ferry passes by while the floating heaps of garbage are visible on the surface. The river is always there with an eternal flow. The songbirds and shorebirds are seen above looking for a northerly breeze to carry them across. The river alone twists and turns throughout its course. As the river meets day, it is luminous with the glow of sunrise; but as the sun disappears, the river darkens, only waiting to be embraced by the warmth of the sun and be luminous again.
