Swimming Exhaustion

Summary: An essay avoiding narrative (past tense) describing the exhaustion of a swimmer in a swimming event.
Slowly dripping salty sweat droplets accumulate onto Jane's reddened skin. Her new hot pink Nike swimsuit feels taut as she extends her muscular body off the starting block, flying across the clear blue waters of the fifty-meter pool. Splashes of aqua relieve Jane of the summer heat; yet also threaten of their upcoming battle. Stroke after stroke, Jane accelerates fighting her way through the densely packed water molecules. Cheers in the crowd encourage her to keep going, not to let them down. The adding pressure pushes her to move even faster, with only milliseconds to glance at her opponents in nearby lanes. Flashes of red and yellow caps startle even the most stable eyes, taking away from her concentration. A bump into the sharp plastic lane rope fixes up this sudden startle, and Jane is back on track as she flip-turns taking a second lap.
