What is a metal ore"

A metal ore is a mineral or mixture of minerals from which cost-effectively possible amounts of metal can be extracted, i.e. its got to have enough of the metal in it to be worth digging out! Ores are often oxides or compounds, which can be changed into the metal oxide. (19)

Iron; symbol Fe, is magnetic, malleable, and a silvery white metallic element. The atomic number of iron is 26; iron is one of the transition elements of the periodic table.
