James Charles Stuart was born on June 19, 1566 at Edinburgh Castle in Scotland. James was the son of Lord Danley and Mary queen of Scots. James father was brutally murdered in early 1567 before James was even a year old. His mother subsequently ascended to the Scottish throne. Mary's reign did not last long. She was forced to abdicate in favor of her son on July 24, 1567. James was crowned King of Scotland when he was at the young age of 13 months. James mother was imprisoned in England by her cousin Queen Elizabeth and 19 years later in February of 1587, Mary was executed for her help in the conspiracy to assassinate Queen Elizabeth. King James never knew his mother or his father. Since James did not have a mother or father he was raised by tutors. Of the four tutors he had the most influential out of the four was George Buchanan...
