Summary:   Essay gives a brief description on the history of Christmas.


Christmas is the most looked forward to holiday of the year for the young Christian children, and many people think only of gifts, and not the reason for observing the holiday. The holiday is so publicized that often, families of no real religion celebrate it. The real cause is to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. Is Christmas really the most important holiday, though? What about when Christ was crucifixed and ressurected? Though it is of greater importance, the Easter Sunday in March or April is not usually considered as such. The favortism of Christmas over every other holiday is particularly evident in the countries of the United States and Canada.

First celebrated by the Roman Catholics when it was known as the Feast of Nativity, around 336 A.D., Christmas first entered the English language around 1050......
