For several years now competition for the fastest processor has been going on, Motorola, Intel and AMD. AMD has made a giant leap to design the 0.13 Micron 64 Bit processor with a frontside bus which is the main highway between the processor and the ram that data transfers between at 1.5 GHz and the processor main frequency 2000 MHz compared to Intel's 3200 MHz. This may not sound like a lot but that MHZ is only a measure of how fast a processor oscillates, but MHZ doesn't tell you what or literally how much it does, so numbers really doesn't matter because the P4 calculates things 1 at a time, so that means it calculates 1 thing 3.2billion times in such a amount of time, where as an Opteron calculates 4 things at a time,.....
