In The King Must Die, by Mary Renault, Theseus is a well-liked king as well as an effective king. One reason why Theseus is a distinguished king is because of his honor. He respects himself greatly, and therefore he believes in his ideas to make his kingdom successful. Theseus is also a trustworthy individual. His servants, soldiers, and people all have faith in Thesus' goals, and do not question his authority. He is an honest king, who does not do things for himself. Even though both honor and trust are crucial for a king to be successful, Theseus' great leadership is the main reason why he is an effective and spectacular king.
