Essay

When you read the clinical description of the Oedipal Complex you find out that if means that you want to marry your mother and kill your father. Hamlet would've never killed his father. Through out the book it tells of what a great love Hamlet had for his father. So I believe that Hamlet was not a victim of the Oedipus Complex. I am this way because all the specific quotes in the play that repeatedly show Hamlet with nothing but concern for his mother's actions. He doesn't like that now she is married to his father's brother but his isn't this way because he want to be with her. His is this way, I believe, because he is just concerned with how she could be acting like she loved him so much then two months after he (old Hamlet) dies she remarries. They do show some insest in the play with Hamlet and his mother, but that was very common in the wealthy back then. This is the way that I believe on weither or not Hamlet is a victim on the Oedipus Complex.
