Social Justice: Refugees

Summary:   This essay defines refugees and is based around the religious background of refugees.


A refugee is defined as a person who flees for refuge or safety, especially to a foreign country, in time of war, persecution or disaster. The important part in defining a refugee is:

-The person has to be outside their country of origin.

-The reason for their flight is because of the fear of persecution.

-If they flee their home country the fear of persecution must be just, meaning if they were to return to their home country they may face the persecution again.

-They have to be unwilling or unable to seel the protection of their country.

If a person is found to be a refugee, Australia are obliged under the international law to offer support and residence to ensure that the person is not sent back unwillingly to the country of origin. All Australians must take stand against unfairness......
