Summary:  

The following is a stylistic essay of Nathaniel Hawthorne's "Wakefield."

It has been said that the last frontier man has to conquer is the universe around the earth, everything within the realm of this world has not only been conquered but mastered. However, the final frontier that man has left to conquer is not only within the atmospheres of this earth, but the boundaries of man's own body. Since the dawn of man, the human psyche has been the greatest mystery that has ever presented itself to man which still hovers above man as 'only frontier left to conquer'. Nathaniel Hawthorne not only realized this, but truly embraced it as he became the first physiological author in history. In his piece, "Wakefield" Hawthorne is able to stimulate the mind and human psyche through vivid descriptions and details of man's psychological approach to life as well as.....
