The Great Gatsby is a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald that displays love, hate, betrayal and dreams. It takes place in an era of prosperity and wealth known as the roaring 20's. This decade brought many changes to society as well as our world in general, as is seen throughout the book. In the 1920's the 18th amendment was passed which prohibited any intoxicating liquors.
