Summary:   Essay shows how Medea, Oedipus, and Antigone lived sorrowful lives from the actions they took.


The characters of Medea, Oedipus, and Antigone caused many misfortunes in their lives resulting from the actions they took. Driven by jealousy, Medea executed many heinous crimes causing more grief to herself and those around her. Blind to the truth, the headstrong and proud Oedipus refused to accept the advice of Teiresias, the blind prophet. Antigone, a good-hearted woman and sister, chose to perform burial rights for her deceased brother even if it meant her death. Whether intentional or unintentional, the actions taken by Medea, Oedipus, and Antigone caused catastrophic consequences.

The tale of Medea portrays the misfortune of a wife whose love for her husband was nothing but trickery forced by the gods. Her love for Jason was betrayed when he sought a younger wife, the princess of Corinth, for the benefit of power and money......
