Summary: Essay explains why jury nullification should be illegal.
Who do you think makes laws for our country? Your answer would probably be elected legislatures. Yet according to this bill, if Jury Nullification is made legal, jurors would be able to apply these laws only when they liked them, and if not, they would simply ignore them. The purpose of a jury is to take the facts given in court and decide if those facts given during the trial can prove that the defendant is guilty of breaking the specific law beyond a reasonable doubt. With jury nullification a legalized practice in our court systems, criminals will be freed out of sympathy, people guilty of breaking the same law will get different sentences, and jury nullification will lead to inconsistency in the application of laws.
