Summary: Essay discusses the tragedy of Pearl Harbor as well as the aftermath.
On December 7th, 1941, America was forever changed by the bombing at Pearl Harbor. Until that date, the United States was committed to not engaging in war with Japan. Japan, however, struck, and so launched a war of the worlds. There are a few theories as to how or why Japan chose this surprise attack. The location was well chosen; numerous battleships and fighter planes were located at Pearl Harbor. Hawaii was also far enough out from the country that communications were not always clear, as is evident with this fateful day. The warnings and signs were many, but few of them were taken seriously. One of the most specific versions of Japan's attack plan was written sixteen years before the fact as a prophecy. Japan is believed to have used this "prophecy" to their advantage and forced it to come true. The `prophecy' comes from Hector C. Bywater...
