Good morning/afternoon. I am here today to talk to you about the stereotype that youth are dangerous, violent, hooligans. Youth are being stereotyped in this way because the media is over representing youth violence. But what is a stereotype you may ask? A stereotype is a standardised image or conception of a type of person. Stereotypes reflect ideas that groups of people hold about others who are different from them. They ignore the uniqueness of individuals by dividing all members of a group into one category.

How many of you sitting right in front of me have found yourself in a situation where you were just out with your friends having harmless fun when police or security guards followed you and your friends around like you were some kind of violent, dangerous, hooligans? Exactly, many of.....
