A Rebuttal on How Women Are Viewed in the Koran

Summary:   The essay is a rebuttal about how women are viewed and treated in the Koran.


In the Koran women are repeatedly regarded as inferiors to men. Women are given less rights and privileges in contrast to men. Women are seen as objects to own and control, and not as equals.

In the Koran it specifically instructs men how to handle their women. According to the Koran:

Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them. God is high, supreme. (Women)
