John Quincy Adam's Foreign Policy

Summary:   Essay is an exposition of John Quincy Adam's foreign policy as it dealt with his time as Secretary of State.


I. The development of out nation in 1776, our government has been faced with many international political decisions. Our position for forming regulations and enacting decisions has roots in George Washington's neutrality Policy. This policy has shaped our current place in as an independent nation in the Western hemisphere, and our recognition by European nations.

II. Our national history is one based on morality. This is illustrated in such things as the document of the Declaration of Independence and our actions that followed, both by which we questioned supreme rule. The Constitutions writing without the use of the word slave illustrates the moral stakes in the issue. One can also infer that because of this it was embarrassing and wrong. However, our political history is one based on what has been best for ht nation at.....
