Summary: Defining the character trait that defines Lady Macbeth in the Shakespearean play "Macbeth."
Lady Macbeth is one of the main characters in Shakespeare's play called Macbeth. She is blinded by ambition, just as a horse in a race. She has her blinders on and only looks forward to the finish line or being queen of Scotland. She greatly influences the downfall of Macbeth. Women did not have much if any power in the 11th century. In the play she is only known as Lady Macbeth. We never know her maiden name.

The witches prophesy that Macbeth will become Thane of Glamis (current title), Thane of Cawdor, and King hereafter. Macbeth is shocked and does not want to force the witches prophecy "If chance will have me king/ without my stir."(I, iii, 143-144) Immediately after she learns of the prophecy in Macbeth's letter, she starts scheming to become queen.
