The Sun-Dog Trail is a short story by Jack London.
A sun dog or sundog, according to Alpheus Hyatt Verrill (A. Hyatt Verrill) in his book, "America's Ancient Civilizations", is a creature depicted in artwork of central and south America. Named this for the sun-like blaze on its chest, it also shows a slightly prehensile tail and sharp claws. It is most likely the tayra, a tropical mustellid, similar in some ways to martens and fishers.
