Province House in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island houses the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island. Opened in 1847, this is the second-oldest seat of government in Canada. In 1864, the building played a central role during the Charlottetown Conference where meetings in what is now the led to Canadian Confederation. As a result, the building is also a National Historic Site of Canada and is operated by Parks Canada, while remaining an active legislature.
