Hermia does not wish to marry Demetrius, so she runs off with Lysander one night. Under Helena's directing in hoping to win him back, she tells him where they are going. Demetrius follows them into the forest with Helena trailing behind. At first, he abuses Helena but in the end loves her. He is the only character permanently affected by the magical flower.
