A private room for a man sometimes serving a variety of uses, adjacent to his bedchamber, common in (among others) French Baroque architecture. It is the male equivalent of a Boudoir, however unlike the boudoir (which there is typically only one of), especially wealthy or aristocratic people may have a series of cabinets in a suite. The Palace of Versailles has a large assortment of cabinets in a suite for the king located behind and adjacent to his formal bedchamber.
