Two naval battles have taken place near Cuddalore on the Carnatic coast of India:
The Battle of Cuddalore (April 29 1758) was an indecsive clash between a British squadron under Vice-Admiral George Pocock and a French squadron under the Comte D'Aché during the Seven Years' War.
The Battle of Cuddalore (20 June 1783) was another indecisive battle between a British fleet under Vice-Admiral Sir Edward Hughes and a smaller French fleet under the Bailli de Suffren at the end of the American War of Independence.
