Q: When does my subscription get rebilled?

Your subscription gets rebilled 30 days after the date of purchasing your subscription. For each month thereafter, your subscription is billed on the same date (or closest possible date, if the billing date is the 31st).

Q: I am a paying subscriber, but I don't seem to have access.

Make sure that you are logged in!

If you are logged in, verify that you have cookies enabled. If you are having trouble logging into BookRags, click here.

Also, if you expect to have access to a study guide but only can get the Sample pages, it might not be available in HTML. You need to download the PDF version to view it. Learn more about PDFs here.

Q: I receive a "File cannot be found" error message when I try to open the PDF.

Errors sometimes occur when trying to Open a PDF within the browser if you do not have the right plug-in. When you click on the "Download the PDF" link, you are presented with a dialog to "Open"/"View" the document or to "Save" the PDF. Select "Save" to store the file on your Desktop, then open the file from that location with the Adobe Reader.

You may also need to reboot your computer if you have recently installed new software, particularly Adobe Reader.

Do you have a recent version of Adobe Reader?

You can download the latest version of Adobe Reader at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

After you download and install the software, you will be able to open the PDF file. For questions regarding downloading or installation of the Adobe software, you will need to contact Adobe directly. Please note that difficulty with the Adobe software is not an issue with BookRags.

Do I have any other options?

You can always contact us, and we'll get back to you within 48 hours (often much, much sooner). If you need a print version of the study guide immediately, simply go to the 'printable version' listed just to the left of the PDF download. Please note that the printable version may appear shorter - we use a smaller font and condense the text so that this document uses fewer pages when you print.

You should see your username or email address in the upper right of the screen, below the search box. If it says, "Login" you are not logged in.

Q: What are the requirements to get a refund?

We handle refunds on a case by case basis. As a policy, we cannot offer refunds for the following situations:

  • Users who forget to cancel their accounts or other factors that a subscriber is directly responsible for.
  • Accounts that have been open for short periods of time. This policy exists because several study guides can easily be downloaded in under a minute. In addition, it is easy for our users who may only need access to one essay (a very common event) to copy/paste that one essay (or essays) into a file on their computer so that they no longer need to pay for access.
  • Users who decide that they did not find what they are looking for. We display a significant level of content before you pay so that you can see all of the services and content that we offer. We display samples for the study guides and provide the first paragraph or more of all of the essays.

Q: Why is the page length stated different from what's on the downloaded file?

We list the exact number of words and approximate page count on all pages.

The 3 downloadable files (printer friendly, PDF, and Word) do not each have the same page length as our stated approximate length on the study guide, which is why we give the exact number of words, but no absolute number of pages. We provide the approximate length as an estimate to help you have an idea of the content length.

This is done because we condense the line spacing and use a smaller font on each of the files, but on the printer friendly and Word files in particular so that they take up fewer pages, less ink, and use less paper to print.

We're trying to save a few trees and a few resources.

But, it's the exact same text. Please note that the PDF tends to have the full number of pages that is claimed on the website and is also printable. We just offer the printable format option in order to take up less paper.
